Trees

I walked out of a building today singing a song, without a noise, about the resurrection and right in front of me was a large, old tree. Was it a tree such as this that the Romans used to carve the cross where Jesus Christ was crucified?  Then as I looked closely at the tree I noticed it was beginning to flower…new life from deep inside an old tree was about to burst forth.

Just like that old tree, the tree that was used for the crucifixion brings new life, because it was an instrument in the plan of God for our salvation.

Throughout the day every time I saw a large tree I thought about what Jesus Christ did for us, so long ago, and yet still has power to change lives today.

This week, every time I see a large tree I will be thinking of the events that lead to the triumph over death and the grave by our Savior.

On the mount of crucifixion Fountains opened deep and wide Through the floodgates of God's mercy Flowed a vast and gracious tide Grace and love like mighty rivers Poured incessant from above Heaven's peace and perfect justice Kissed a guilty world in love.

It all came to a stop

Sping at last...
