The list that contains the ways I am proud of my parents is long and continues to grow.
- They faithfully live out their faith
- Their love for each other is evident
- They understand there is a call on their lives to serve in ministry
- They love me…still…something I can count on.
Just recently they added to the list.
For a number of years now I have witnessed their desire to stay active throughout their golden years. Even though they are in their 70s they have not slowed down. They have recognized that staying active keeps them in better health. Up until recently they faithfully walked together 3-5 days a week, not just to walk but walking for exercise. Now they are taking it to a whole new level….they have joined their local YMCA, and are working out with a personal trainer.
That’s cool…that’s amazing.
You see they recognize that to stay active and in good health it takes some planning and some work.
Research shows that nearly 70% of all age related disease can be eliminated with exercise.
Research shows that we all lose muscle mass as we get older, but that trend can be reversed with intentional exercise…moving and challenging those muscles.
Research shows that accidents (stumbling and falling) by senior adults are related to the lack of exercise and inactivity in muscles…not just getting older.
Mom and Dad…keep it up…we want you around for many more years…
You still amaze me.
