Every Christ-follower is equipped, but not every Christ-follower uses their gifts. Just look at Matthew 25:14-30 as a parallel.

I have always wondered what ministry would be like if every volunteer position was filled and there was a waiting list of people wanting to work.  It seemed that this would be the ideal situation, especially for me, as one who was always recruiting.

After 30 plus years of working in ministries, I have come to realize that the ideal is to always have positions available. Actually, I believe God makes ministry positions available for every Christ-follower.

Ministry leaders think their life, their leadership would be easier if every ministry position was filled. I don’t. If that were the case we would be settling for zero numerical growth and stagnant spiritual growth.

Caution: if you are reading this and think this post gives you permission not to say yes to a ministry position that you are qualified for, you would be wrong.

God equips and calls everyone to a ministry.

If there is an open position in your local church where you have the skills set and spiritual gift to fill...go fill it.

If you don’t see a position posted that your gifts and talents could fill, go talk to the ministry leaders and tell them about yourself and your gifts.

There will be a place for you to serve, it is what you are gifted to do.

Do you serve in your local church?

If so, where do you serve?
