One year ago...

This morning I was reminded of an event that took place almost one year ago.  You know how when something significant happens you can even remember where you were when you heard the news.  Well I was at our neighborhood pool when I received word that our friend Carmen Thompson had just been in a life-threatening accident.  And what was the worst part for us here in Franklin the accident took place in Louisiana and none of us could get to Terry and Carmen quickly. Over the next few weeks we learned that Carmen would survive with major changes to her life as she would be paralyzed from the waist down.  What a journey the next months were for Terry and Carmen.

Almost a year has passed since the accident and Carmen and Terry are making great progress in the adjustments to a new life-style.  This morning as I read through the newspaper I was pleasantly surprised to find a feature article, in the Williamson AM section on Terry and Carmen.  The quotes from Terry and Carmen are a great testimony to their faith in Jesus Christ. Take a few minutes today to read this article and also notice it makes mention of a benefit concert that will take place on June 24 at the Factory in Franklin to support Terry and Carmen.  You can also find information about the benefit at www.terryandcarmen.com. The other thing that reminded me of Terry and Carmen this morning was a couple of scriptures that jumped off the page, as I read from the book of Psalms.

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, have never abandoned anyone who searches for you. Psalm 9:10

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. Psalm 16:8

Since the accident I have been around Terry and Carmen and heard them speak of their love for God and heard them testify to His faithfulness and strength through this trial.  I know they would echo the words of the Psalmist and even say with Him.

I will sing to the Lord because he has been so good to me. Psalm 13: 6

It Happened Again…

It's Thursday but Sunday is coming...
