Make A Plan for Your Worship This Sunday

“I woke up around 2 a.m. and realized in my dozing off early last night, after a yard work day, that I missed my usual reading and praying for Sunday.”

That was a part of a message I received last Sunday morning from our a member of my church. She goes on to say that Continue Reading…

Shared Leadership In Worship

Recently I attended a Hillsong United concert. As I looked around the room I realized I was in a very small minority…those over 50. I attended because as a worship leader I need to be aware of trends and forces that are making a positive impact on Christ-centered worship around the world. I believe I can safely say that Hillsong has had and continues to have a tremdous impact. We sing their songs and so do thousands of churches around the globe.

Even out of my comfort zone there were a few things that impressed me about the night. Continue Reading…

Worship Leaders, Scriptures and Smartphones

As I was walking out of  church today I saw the following tweet referencing our services at ClearView:

“3 people read Scripture publicly during worship this morning. Each used their smartphones. Is this a good thing?”

Its good!

As Christ-followers we are told to learn about God and find instructions for our lives through the reading of His Word.

Talk About Worship Values

When should your worship team talk about your church’s worship values?

Every week!

This is a regular topic at our weekly meetings

We examine our own values.

We discuss what Christ-centered worship looks like.

We look at the published worship values of other churches

These discussions help us evaluate our worship beliefs and therefore they help us mold our worship services.

If you would like a copy of our worship values leave a comment that includes your email address and I will send you a copy.

Overwhelmed By His Presence

I received an email this afternoon from one of our vocal team members who helped lead today:

I had a moment that I have NEVER experienced before in the services today. Normally I am thinking about the words before we get to the songs and also saying God this is yours not mine let them hear and see you not me let it be your voice. I did that each time you read scriptures today. It took all I had not to break down during the last verse of At the Cross. Everytime I closed my eyes I saw what I felt like Jesus looked like and actually pictured what it’d be like to close my eyes and take my final breath only to open them and see Him standing in front of me smiling! It brought up so many emotions today! I can even tell you! I always prepare for worship but I was not prepared for that. I would say it was emotionally draining but it was the feeling of I don’t want this to end!

Everyone worships differently, yet worship for everyone should be that kind of personal experience. Continue Reading…
